Changing to another theme can quickly prevent you from experiencing a problem.
Each theme creates separate sizes of thumbnails that match the theme. When changing the theme, it may be that the old images have the wrong formats, which makes it look strange on your website.
All uploading again is, of course, no solution, but what the solution is, you can read in this article.
What are thumbnails?
A thumbnail is basically a smaller version of an image. When you go to Settings -> Media in WordPress, you can set 3 default formats for the image on your website. The smallest is called in WordPress thumbnail.
The moment you add an image to your website, smaller versions of the image is automatically created. These are the 3 standard formats, but additional formats can be created if needed for the theme.
Where are thumbnails used for?
Thumbnails are generally available for use wherever you want to save space, and the theme often uses thumbnails for various components.
For example, for the highlighted image for all themes, a thumbnail is used, thumbnails can be used in the sidebar for, for example, popular posts, and often see thumbnails when you see an article related posts at the bottom.
Thumbnails are actually used more often than you think so it's so convenient to have them in the right format. For a theme, it is, therefore, advisable to generate the thumbnails again.
Regenerate thumbnails
Once you have activated the plugin on your website, you can create thumbnails for all images at once. You can do this by clicking the "Regenerate All thumbnails" button on the "Extra"> Rain page. Thumbnails ".
Then it's a matter of waiting until all thumbnails are created. Do you only want to generate a new thumbnail for some images? You can do this by going to the media library, moving an image with your mouse and clicking on the "Regenerate Thumbnail" link.
Once you've created new thumbnails from all images, you can also delete the plugin again. The work is done and you will not need the plugin soon. So it's superfluous to leave it on your website.
Do the old thumbnails disappear?
Rendering images again will not affect all old formats. Only extra formats are created, so it does not suddenly prevent an image from working on your website because the image no longer exists.
I hope this article helped you if you once again get in the situation that you need to re-generate the thumbnails.
