I recently experienced the benefits of MailChimp automation.
It's a proven way to build a relationship with your customers or visitors from your website.
I have made a 5-day e-course with MailChimp automation.
For five days, the one who has signed up will receive a mail in the mailbox with tips on how to design blog topics for your website at a fixed time.
An online e-course is a huge customer relationship, often even more than offering an e-book.
After all, you have more intimate contact with your customer and you can lose more of yourself. And that may be a reason for customers to contact you for the services you offer.
The beautiful is ...
... making it even easier to create an e-course for your website.
You can do that too!
Recently, there was BIG NEWS at MailChimp. This email marketing company announced that you no longer have to pay for one of their key features, automation.
What is automation?
Automation (also called marketing automation) is a series of emails that you send automatically. You can automatically send an email to a customer or visitor automatically each month. Triggers (the time/date) tell you in advance what message you send.

You can be your customer or visitor:
- send a resignation note after purchase
- After three days, send a nice offer.
- send a 5-day course;
- and congratulations on your birthday.
And so there are many more possibilities with MailChimp 's automation tool
It's a great feature now available for free!
Nowadays many companies use paid services as autoresponder, a similar system.
No clue at MailChimp
Is there a lot of fun in the free offer of MailChimp? No! The only thing you have to pay for is the support. That's their earnings model.
But, without this support, you come a long way.
I've also succeeded
We explain in this article how to offer a multi-day e-course. With every day an email containing a tip.
I will explain it as concrete as possible, with many images.
Are you ready for it? This is really worth it!
Of course, you must first develop a course. I'm not going to deal with this article because I focus on the practical and technical part of creating an e-course.
However, it is useful to first create a course that can be divided over several days.
Once you've done that and log in, you'll get the following screen:
You must first create a list. At the top of the navigation, click on 'list'.
Then click on create a list. You will then receive a notification if you want a 'new list' or 'group', but you click on 'create a list' again and you will see the following screen:
You fill in the open input fields. It's all about it.
Once you've done that, you get the message: Excellent! You have a brand new list.
The list is now made and you continue to the next step.
MailChimp automation
Click on "automation" at the top of the navigation. At the top right you will see a button with 'add automation' and click on it.
The following page appears:
WOW!
Take a look around and see that there are many opportunities to send automated mail.
I have not explored all the possibilities, but there are many.
This also offers many possibilities for webshops.
However, we are going to make a 5-day education course. So scroll down and stop at Education:
In 'course series' click on the 'add automation' button.
Select the 'list' you created and click on 'next'.
And now you're in the course, as you can see below.
Check the 'edit workflow settings' and, if necessary, fill in if necessary.
And after that, you can start entering the course.
You see that they start with an introduction to the course. And there are 4 lessons created, which you can further expand with more lessons (with 'add email').
Let's start with the introduction. Do not forget to first set the trigger (which is above class).
I would set this up immediately so that the student will receive your course introduction immediately after signing up for the course.
Then you go to 'design email' (right) and you can fill in the introduction. First, you get to a page where you need to fill in your email subject.
That's the rule people see in their mailbox. Important so! This must stimulate people to click through to the message.
At the bottom right of the bottom, you will see a button with 'next' and click on it.
Here you click on a template, so a formatting of the course.
To the right, you can drag the blocks you need, drag to the left. And then you can put the text in it. It takes some practice, but it turns out to be self-evident.
When you're done and put all the text and image in, click on 'save and continue' at the bottom. And you're back in the overview of the course.
And so you do all the lessons.
Green marks
In my 5 day e-course at "trigger" I introduced the introduction immediately and each lesson I have set on "wait 1 day (s). This way you send a part of the course every day.
If you're done, click on the bottom right next to 'next'.
You will then get an overview of your workflow setting and see if everything is set correctly. Green tick is good, a red cross requires some attention.
Nice!
If you return via the navigation to 'automation' you will see that the e-course has been added.
You're done now in MailChimp!
It's quite a few steps, but if you know what steps to take exactly, it's not hard.
Link MailChimp
We are going to the next step: linking MailChimp to your website.
In other words, people should be directed to your 5-day course via your website.
I have designed an image through Canva. Canva makes it easy for you to make designs yourself without being a designer. A really great program! And still free too.
Think carefully about the text and the headers that you add. It must be stimulated so that they click through.
Step 2: Upload this image to your website. And then paste the image's code into your sidebar at View> widgets.
The code looks like this:
<a href=" http://eepurl.com/Qaw3 "target="_blank"> <img src =" https://www.sitename/uploads/2017/06/copywriter-11. jpg "/> </a>
The blue sections need to be customized:
https://www.sitename/uploads/2017/06/copywriter-11. jpg replace your own image code.
http://eepurl.com/Qaw3 is the code you find in MailChimp. You first click on "lists" in the navigation, then you go to the appropriate course you click on.
Go to 'signup forms', then to 'general forms'. And then you'll see something down the 'signup form URL'. These paste you into the place of http://eepurl.com/cQaw3r.
Scroll slightly down and with "built it" you can customize and edit the text.
Now the picture is linked with MailChimp! Reload your page and you will see that the image on your website has appeared.
Continue by clicking on the registration form where visitors can sign up for the course.
And finished…
You now have a full 5-day e-course, which will make you happy with your readers!
Conclusion
It is almost unbelievable that these types of services are provided free of charge.
Email marketing, as mentioned, is still at the beginning of a beautiful future.
Offering an ebook has had its longest time, it is much more fun and more effective to offer an e-course.
A 5-day or a 20-week course, it all can be done.
Often the e-courses are often quite basic and simple, but with MailChimp's free function, it becomes very accessible to develop mature courses themselves.
Collect an e-course on a coaching course, yoga classes or postage stamps; It can all be automated.
Of course, it takes some time investment to understand MailChimp 's automation functions.
And you have to develop a course yourself.
But if you link these two things together, you get unlimited opportunities to get more customers or more visitors.
Sign up for the 5-day e-course from WPjournalist and then you get an idea of how it works.
And you learn from that too
