Due to the strong growth of WordPress, the CMS has become a favorite prey for hackers. Hacked websites are sometimes filled with malware, defaced, and sometimes even completely unsuccessful. Most of the hack attempts can be done by simple actions. The purpose of this article is to help people with limited technical knowledge to secure their website for 99%. In addition, we explain what you can do if your WordPress website is even hacked once.
What is a hacked website?
When your site is infected, this usually happens because a hacker has been able to take control of your site through a vulnerability. The hacker can also change the content of the site (e.g., by adding spam) or add additional pages to the site, usually with phishing as a target (mislead users to enter personal and credit card information). The hacker can also add malicious code (malware), such as scripts or iFrames that retrieve content from another website that tries to attack any computer that displays the page.
The term malware includes all types of malware that are intended to damage a computer or network. Examples of malware include viruses, worms, spyware and Trojan horses. Once a site or computer is damaged, it can be used to host malicious content, such as phishing sites (sites intended to mislead users to provide their personal and credit card information). Some hackers can even take over a hacked site.

What else can you do to secure your website?

Here are countless plugins for which we will discuss the most popular here. The plugins include a variety of functionalities to further enhance your website. - Bulletproof Security - Popular free plugin
- Hide my WP - Paid plugin to make WordPress unrecognizable for hackers

What should you do if your website is hacked?
A. Restore Backup and Update Everything.
If you are technical, you can check which files to find the foreign code, but our experience is that the problem usually does not solve it. Malware code is often processed in multiple files and hidden in WordPress, plugins and themes files. Restoring a full backup is, therefore, the best solution. But note: After you restore your backup, your website is not yet protected! Then update your WordPress installation, plugins and themes immediately! And do not you trust it at all? Then read Step B!
B. Let Sowmedia clean up the hacked website
Sowmedia offers the WordPress Hack-free service: a service that cleans websites for a fixed amount of malware, defaces, backdoors and other traces that hackers left behind. In addition, you can choose cleaning operations within a working day to within a working week.
