How do I write an article for the web?
In other words, how do I write an article for the web? And more importantly, how do I write an article that not only attracts many visitors, but also an article that brings visitors back and tells others about it.

What do I want to tell and for whom do I write it?

The question could also be: 'How do I write a blog article?' or 'How do I write a website article?' With the ease with which you can start a blog today , people write and talk more about blogging than about a website.
But in writing there is absolutely no difference between those two. And in both cases you are writing your article for the web.
Every website and every well thought-out blog has a definite audience for whom the articles being published are intended. That means that every article is initially written with that target group in mind.
And it's also important to keep an eye on what you want to tell in that article.
An article therefore comes from an idea. An idea that always has the same question as a source: "What do visitors want to know about my website?"
So say that your website has the main theme 'Cycling on the Veluwe'. Then people who are interested in cycling on the Veluwe might want to know where on the Veluwe you can best stop for a while.
Something about which you could even write several articles. For example:
  1. Places where you can stop for a cup of coffee.
  2. Places where you can stop for lunch.
  3. Places where you can enjoy a picnic and enjoy beautiful views.
  4. Places where you can stay overnight.
  5. Places where you can camp.
If you would write such an article for a magazine, you could handle all of these topics in one article.
However, when you write for the web, this is a less good idea. Because an article will only do well in Google search results, when an article clearly has only one topic.
This would mean that you already have 5 topics for articles on your website that are about cycling on the Veluwe, and where visitors to your website might be interested.
And that is perhaps the most important thing. Because it's impossible to make it all the way to everyone. And when you try to do that, nobody is really satisfied. Therefore, keep in mind with each article you write very carefully the target audience of your website.

How the layout of a good article looks

It is not as impatient as a visitor to a website. Because when we are internet, we are usually looking for information. And of course we want that information as quickly as possible.
If we want to earn money with a website and the articles we write, we would naturally want any article we write to be on the first page of Google search results.
But we also want that when a visitor comes to our website, this visitor stays long enough on our website to do what we would like him to do. For example: Subscribe to the newsletter, buy a product or click on ads displayed on the website.
However, we only succeed when we can immediately catch the attention of the visitor as soon as he reaches our website.
This may include a headline over an article that is of interest. Because this head promises him the possible solution to his problem, or most likely the question he has will answer.
The head
For this reason, it is very important to write a good and clear head for every article you make. A catchy head that summarizes what the article is about.
The first paragraph
When a headline over your article's interest is working, the visitor will start reading the article. The question that the visitor wants to see immediately answered is whether this article will indeed give him a solution to his problem or answer his question.
The first paragraph should therefore be clear and in just a few sentences to tell exactly what the article is about.
The last paragraph
The rush visitor will scroll down to read the last paragraph after reading the first paragraph. Again to discover if the whole article is reading its time will be worth it. The last paragraph of each article that you write for the web must therefore contain a conclusion of what you have said in the article.
Between the first and last paragraphs
Between the first and last paragraphs, you go deeper into the subject of your article.
When writing to the web, you should always make sure you limit yourself to writing only one thought per paragraph.
It's wise to do this because people on the internet do not really read, but scan. In this way, you are giving the opportunity to your visitors to read only the paragraphs in which they are interested.
Whether it's smart to read so, that's obviously a second.
But always remember that you write every article that you write for your visitors and not for yourself. Because it is ultimately the visitors of your website who fill your wallet.
That's why you have to be economical. And for that reason, whatever you write, your visitors should be in the best position as well as possible.
Articles you write for the web are usually articles that answer an urgent question for your visitor or that solve a problem that you have the visitor to your website.
And the sooner and how clearer you can indicate in an article what problem you're going to solve exactly, or what question you're going to answer exactly, and why your solution or answer is the best, the more interested readers will have your website or blog.
And the more you will also earn to the visitors of your website. Because someone who is well-helped by you will tend to buy something from you or do business with you.
